If you pay someone to take away your household rubbish or unwanted items, you must check that they are a registered waste carrier. If you don’t you can now be fined £300 or receive an unlimited fine if prosecuted.
To meet your legal requirements as a householder, you must:
- Check with Natural Resources Wales that the person or company you are using is registered. You can do this online at naturalresources.wales/checkwaste or by calling 03000 653000 (open 9am – 5pm weekdays, charged at national rate).
- Ask where your waste is going.
We also recommend that you:
- Record any checks that you make, including the operators name & registration number.
- Keep a receipt which includes a description of the waste and company used.
- Record details of the business or vehicle (registration, make, model, colour)
